In the FY2023 funding cycle this AFRI program area priority focused on maintaining healthy agricultural animals to ensure a safe and adequate food supply by supporting research in cellular, molecular, genomic/genetic or whole-animal aspects of animal health;  disease prevention, control and therapeutics; and production of immune reagents for agricultural animals. In addition, A1221 has included the establishment of a Tribal Animal Health Coordination Network as a program area priority for the next funding cycle.
