The United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) NRCS serving South Dakota is announcing a round of ActNow funding for Potter, Sully, Hughes, and Stanley Counties.
This opportunity is a special allocation of limited funds and will be distributed on a first come, first serve, basis. The focus of these ActNow funds are for Windbreak/Shelterbelt Establishments and Grass Seedings. Priority resource concerns targeted with this project include: Livestock Shelter, Drifted Snow, Wind Erosion, Livestock Feed and Forage, Terrestrial Habitat, and Organic Matter Depletion. While applications are accepted year-round, applications for this ActNow opportunity are due by May 12, 2023.
“There is always a demand for grass seedings and tree plantings in this area. Sometimes those projects are difficult to find funding for through traditional sign-ups. We are excited to get some of these plantings on the ground through the fast-tracked ActNow process,” said Dillon Blaha, Resource Unit Conservationist, Pierre, South Dakota.
